Michael B. Jordan, Jessie Buckley Lead Oscar Race after Major Actors Awards Wins
Jordan took home the finest lead male actor award for his double role in ‘Sinners’, Buckley won finest lead female actor award for ‘Hamnet’.
Michael B. Jordan and Jessie Buckley celebrate major wins at the 2026 SAG Awards, strengthening their positions as Oscar frontrunners for Sinners and Hamnet.
Michael B. Jordan and Jessie Buckley boosted their positions as Oscar frontrunners after winning prominent honours at this year’s Actors awards. The ceremony is earlier called the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards. It selects the winners according to votes by its 1, 60,000 members.
Jordan took home the finest top male actor award for his double role in the highly praised vampire thriller Sinners. It can beat up the hotly tipped favourite Timothée Chalamet.
On stage, he paid honor to director and longtime collaborator Ryan Coogler, and to the “love and support” from fellow actors who had watched him grow up in the spotlight. The weekend even saw Jordan unplanned for the NAACP Image Awards entertainer and actor of the year honors.
Sinners also won the big screen Acting Oscars. The cast includes Delroy Lindo and Wunmi Mosaku. Lindo said, “This project is anointed and from that standpoint, we’re all anointed to be part of this incredible journey”.
Buckley regularly works on the awards-season run, subsequenting victories at the Bafta Film Awards and Golden Globe Awards. It can work on the top lead female actor played for her role in Hamnet. It is directed by Chloé Zhao. She said,“I have been categorically changed by so many people in this room and beyond”.
To promote the actor categories, Sean Penn was named top supporting male actor for One Battle after Another. It can add on to the Bafta win last weekend. He was not available at the event to accept the award individually.
